Directory Tool

The Directory tool allows you to search for an establishment and bring up important information like the address, phone number, and opening hours. For some establishments there is a brief description included or a note about outdoor seating and reservation options if available.

When looking at any establishment in the Directory tool, you can call the place directly with the phone icon. If you have the Directions tool installed, you can search the route to get there with the maps icon.

Default Location:

The Directory tool and Directions tool share a new global setting called 'Default Location'. You will be asked for this the first time you install either tool. Though you can search for specific establishments in other cities without updating this, and the Directory tool does a great job of understanding that request, the default location fallback helps the tool understand where you are searching from to provide the most accurate results.

Default location is now also shown in the Dashboard > Phone > Settings page. You can update it there or through either tool settings from the device itself.

Privacy Oriented:

Like all of our optional tools, the Directory tool is built in a way that respects user privacy. While we do leverage a third party API(Google Places) for the logic that supports the tool. Light covers the costs so we can offer this functionality to our users in a private way (similar to Directions or voice-to-text). There is no user identifiable information ever shared.

We explored a variety of platforms and felt this collaboration provided the best user experience and most accurate and up-to-date search results.
