What are the Light Flip features?

At its core, the Light Flip is an intentionally simple phone with a camera and a variety of utility-based tools available as well as predictive T9, voice-to-text, audio messaging and hotspot.
Currently those include an alarm, timer, calculator, calendar, directory, directions, notes/voice memo, a simple music & podcast player, weather and an authenticator (2fA) tool. We will continue to roll out more features like this with our ongoing software updates, always optionally and never pre-installed.
We’ve also recently launched a developer program for community-built and open-source tools, making it an even more robust ecosystem for intentional & trustworthy technology across both hardware and software.

There is not currently a music streaming tool for platforms like Spotify, or a way to call/message with other platforms like Signal or Whatsapp. There is not a Rideshare tool available, either. These features may be possible in future software updates.

The phone itself has a headphone jack, USB-C port, gps, bluetooth, a camera, and flashlight.

While considering additional functionality for the Light Flip, it's important to remember all of the features it will never have - social media, internet browsing, email, news, or ads. There are simply no infinite feeds.

The Light Flip currently only supports an English keyboard/language on the device, though you will still be able to view incoming messages in a variety of languages and characters. We are working to expand our language support, thanks for understanding!

When will I get my Light Flip?

We expect the first batch to ship in April 2027.
Placing a pre-order now secures your place in line for the next available phone. As we sell out of a batch, the estimated timeline for a new pre-order will shift accordingly.
Over the next 8 months, we will go through three different prototype builds to verify and test the design, functions, durability, and all 5g/4g related network performance. Mass production ramp-up is scheduled for Februaryt 2027, and shipping starts late March/early April. Like all Light Phones, the Light Flip will be certified with all major network/consumer regulators as well as local service providers (i.e., FCC, PTCRB, CE, AT&T, Verizon, etc.).

How much does it cost?

The Light Flip is available starting at $39/month with a two year Light Service contract (1GB data + unlimited calls/texts). This offer is limited to the U.S. currently.

The Light Flip can be pre-ordered unlocked for $299 to use on any compatible carrier of your choice.

Will it work with my carrier?

We've created a compatibility checker website for you to see which carriers and regions will support the Light Flip. We’ll continue to add carriers as we can guarantee reliable coverage on their network.
Please verify that the Light Flip will work with the regions/carriers where you plan to use the phone.
We never intentionally lock the device in any way.

The expected battery life is approximately ~1.5 days. The Light Flip does not have any expandable memory.

Is the Light Flip repairable?

In our user research, we heard again and again about the poor build quality and lack of repairability for modern flip phone options. We have designed the Light Flip with repairability in mind and hope to be able to keep you using your devices for years. There is also a user-replaceable battery so that in a few years if that degrades, you can extend the life span of the phone with a new battery.

Can I trade in my old phone?

We are not honestly in a position to support any sort of trade-in program for the Light Flip. We can, however, help you responsibly recycle any older phones with our partner EcoCell if you are interested.
